The Soft Oxford Matte Black
Cute meets casual: A soft, muted Black leather and light brown laces (that don't actually need to be laced!). This is the quintessential weekend-flat, whether you're running errands or running around a summer festival.
Brand new for 2017, and our most casual style yet, these cute, rounded-toe kicks have a soft, flexible sole with a small lift, and even softer leather uppers. Ideal for getting you from one place to the next comfortably—and quickly—the laces can just be for show; when your hands are full, slip them on and off with ease. One width fits all.

About the Owner: This factory was founded twenty years ago by Lupita. Poppy Barley co-founders Kendall and Justine Barber serendipitously met Lupita when their shoe broker Laura’s 12-year old daughter came home and reported her best friend’s mom (Lupita) could make custom footwear (did you catch all that?). This was the beginning of the Poppy Barley partnership (and became the original Poppy Barley factory) formed by four women: Kendall, Justine, Lupita and Laura.
About the Factory: Lupita recruited all of her shoemakers from the sample rooms of León’s top manufacturers. (It is in the sample rooms of larger factories where the first prototype of every new shoe style is handcrafted before it is mass-produced by an assembly line.) The artisans have decades of experience in shoemaking, having launched their careers when it was still the norm to make shoes entirely by hand.
Creating a clean and safe environment for Lupita’s team is of utmost importance, and in the 20 years that her factory has been manufacturing shoes they have remained accident-free.
We screen all our factories to ensure positive working conditions, including a living wage, full-time permanent employment with benefits, reasonable working hours, vacation and sick benefits, and ongoing training and opportunity.
